After updating my S24 Ultra to the One UI7, media on browsers and certain apps (like crunchyroll; anime guy here) can no longer be played.

Long story short.
So I'm ALWAYS on FaceTime with my wife who resides overseas. (Still working on getting her to the states. Wish me luck with all thats going on)

There's a 12 hour time difference between us and so when she's up, I'm asleep. When I'm up, she's asleep.

Now whether she's still asleep or it's the weekend and she wants to nap but have me on the phone, thats fine with me. I'll stay on call. It's my wife duh.
But I do go out with friends at times so that's when the call ends. But I sometimes I stay watching videos while we are on call and she's cool with it.

But after this update, now I can no longer do that? Some apps do still play the media but some don't.
The play button is there but even with the power of the GALAXY in your finger ;), it's not going to play. Has anyone had or is getting this same issue?
What's going on Samsung????

Why all of a sudden this can't be done?
I can be a creep and just stare at my wife sleep the entire time if that's what you want. Jk lol

You might have to try setting separate app sound and have the sound for your media directed to another device (not easy if you do not have BT speaker, echo device or other).  You can use headphones or buds and direct the media to play out of the phone's speakers while the call audio is directed to your headgear. Settings/sounds and vibration/separate app sound.  You may also have to turn on picture-in-picture for the app. Settings/apps tap 3-dot menu and choose special access.  Choose your pip app(s)

Update: Going almost a whole month now without anything solved or fixed. Hoping for a miracle soon.

Samsung claims that the issue lies with the apps themselves and not with the update. But that’s just nonsense. Either they don’t want to admit it, or they genuinely haven’t realized how badly they messed things up with this new update.

Lies with the apps 🙄 yeah OK.  Worked fine before the UI7 update, and not after.  Sure it might be that vendors need to update their app, but that's still on Samsung.  Blaming the apps is a sh*t move by Samsung - listen to your users and fix this **bleep** issue!

To allow media to play while on a video call on Galaxy phones running Android 15, you can try the following methods:

-Use headphones or buds and direct the media to play out of the phone's speakers while the call audio is directed to your headgear.
-Open the video app and the calling app simultaneously.
-Access the streaming service through a web browser instead of the app.

Wearing earbuds to hear media while on a call means you can't hear the call - what kind of "solution" is that?

None of that is the answer - this is clearly a bug that needs to be fixed.

You ever hear of using a) using one ear bud or b) using a Bluetooth speaker or c) directing your call to the earbuds and your other media to the phone?  Nothing says your connected device has to be earbuds or headphones.  Nothing says you have to wear two earbuds, many people use only one. People say they are playing other media because they are on extended hold or watching their SO sleep.  In that case it does not matter, because one is not talking or listening to anyone anyway.  Even so, unless you have ANC ear buds, you will still be able to hear your phone call, unless you have the volume ear damaging loud.
