Galaxy S24I want to report this to Samsung. I couldn't figure out where to do it because it's an odd issue, so I thought I'd post something here.
I recently used Expert RAW to take some night sky photos during a visit to Arches National Park. I came away with some beautiful images of the Milky Way in both DNG (Samsung RAW) and JPEG formats. I did not edit the DNG files -- I didn't even open them other than a quick look the next day -- but I did slightly edit some of the JPEGs over the next few days. I planned to edit the DNGs when I returned home. However, a few days ago I noticed that nearly all of the photos I took with Expert RAW had dissappeared from my phone. Only about 4 images remain out of a dozen.
When I say the images have disappeared, I don't mean they no longer display in the Gallery app. I mean the photos -- both DNGs and JPEGs -- have completely disappeared from my phone. They are not in the trash (gallery, camera or other bins). They are not in my OneDrive synced copies or in the OneDrive trash.
The files are simply gone. Searches for DNG and for photos by date have revealed nothing.
The only thing that saved me was my Google 1 backup. They were still there.
All other photos I took on the trip remain in place -- only the photos taken with the Expert RAW camera are affected.
This whole situation is very bizarre. The only major change I made to the phone was to install the OneUI 8 update. I don't see how that could have caused the images to vanish, though.
I live in a very light polluted area with brightly lit skies, so I don't use Expert RAW very often (images are always washed out). As a result, I can't say if other DNG / JPEG images have previously vanished from my phone.
If anyone has any thoughts about this I'd appreciate hearing them.
Thanks

Galaxy S24If you edited photos, the original gets hidden but retained in case you want to revert. Only the edited version is saved to the gallery. If you want to retain the original for viewing, as well as the edited version, you have to save your edit as a copy. If you want your original back, just go onto the editor and choose revert. If you then want to edit again, tap the dot menu when you are done editing and choose save as copy. You will be able to view both versions in your gallery.
