Galaxy S24

Hello Samsung Community,

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra USA unlocked variant, model SM-S928U1, purchased in the United States. I am currently using this device in India with a Jio 5G SIM, but 5G connectivity is not working.

Device and network details:

Model: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra SM-S928U1

Variant: USA unlocked

Current location: India

Network provider: Jio 5G (eSim)

SIM status: Active Jio 5G SIM (5G works on other compatible phones)

Software: Updated to the latest available firmware

Even in confirmed Jio 5G coverage areas, the phone only connects to 4G LTE. There is also no option to enable 5G in the mobile network settings.

I would appreciate clarification on the following points:

Does the SM-S928U1 USA variant support the Indian 5G bands used by Jio, specifically n28 and n78?

Is this limitation due to hardware band incompatibility or a CSC or region based software restriction?

Is there any plan to enable 5G support in India through a future software update for this model?

Are there any officially recommended solutions or workarounds?

I would be grateful for guidance from Samsung support or community members who have experience with this model.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

Ash

Would be good to see a screenshot of the following: go to settings then scroll down to about phone, then software information and then scroll down to the bottom and take screenshot.

Try putting the sim in a device that will work with their 5g service. Once established, put the sim back in the s24u. Should be working. If not, check apn settings. If all good there, you'll need to change region but how to do that cant be discussed here, youll need to hop over to XDA for instructions but a word of caution that flashing improperly can soft brick the device. ๐Ÿ––๐Ÿป

@Raj-5872 Typically RF bands can't be added by software. They are set by hardware and that is why there are different hardware variations for India and the US.

There is a post on XDA listing the bands for this model. Search for "SM-S928U1 bands" on Google. Looks like it supports the n28 and n78 bands you were asking about.

The n78 band is used by Verizon and T-Mobile, so it is surprising that it is not being picked up in India. Might have something to do with which CSC is assigned.
