Samsung S24 ultra normal selfie photos are different MPs, why is that?

When using just normal selfie camera set for 12MP, some photos are 12MP and some photos 9MP, why that? I WANT 12 MP for all of them!

Are you using the 3:4 aspect ratio? Photos taken in 9:16 or 1:1 will be 9MP.

Yes 3:4 but getting 12 or 9MP randomly

How about the selfie zoom? I just tested it. You have to use the wide-angle option on the left to get 12MP. The cropped setting to the right results in 9MP images.

It's interesting how a phone's software can automatically switch between aspect ratios, which changes the megapixel count. Finding the setting to lock it to the full 12MP is a small tweak that unlocks the camera's full value.
