Samsung messages

I just brought my son the a16 yesterday and today his phone updated this morning and he can see in his Samsung messages when his contacts reads his messages. I have the s24 ultra and mine is not showing the read receipts at all even when I text my sons new phone it doesn't show on his end and I don't have the dot on my contacts in his phone like the other contacts. I wanted to know do I need to do something on my end or do I have to wait for a update like his phone did this morning

Switch both devices to Google Messages and turn on RCS Chats, you will not have this problem.

If you read I'm using Samsung messages and so is my son I don't use Google messages

If you read, press the reply button, then I would have gotten a notification of your rude reply.

And I you read I said I use Samsung messages not goggle messages so your reply on getting Google messages was irrelevant to my question that I asked about Samsung messages if I wanted Google messages I would have downloaded Google messages

With all due respect, all features of Samsung messages is fragmented between devices. Why have Samsung and Carriers done this, I can answer that question.

Yes that's why I asked what did I need to do with my phone for my Samsung messages to work like my sons Samsung messages work his just updated and he has the options to see his read receipts I don't and we both are using Samsung messages. That's why I came here to ask what I needed to do for Samsung messages

I don't think you are going to get advanced messaging on your S24 with AT&T on your S24.

I can't get it on my S25U on Verizon either.
