What does the blue dot mean in Google Messages?

Can some one tell me what the blue conversation cloud that is on some of the contacts in text message convo threads?

It isn't in every single message thread contacts but its a lot of them.

It means RCS chats is available with the recipient.

These are conversations that have read receipts, typing indicators, higher image/video quality, and other features enabled.

Thank you. Thats more specific and what I was looking for. Thanks. So if the features werent enable, the bubble would show?
But I have one text thread that has the bubble and it shows sent and delivery but it never shows read or typing. ???

The read receipts are check marks on the right side of the bubble. If they aren't showing properly for a specific contact, it may be a compatibility issue, such as someone with an iPhone on a network with an incompatible implementation of RCS.

I know that. Im asking if the blue conversation bubble that appears next to the contact in the thread still show if their read reciept are turned off?

You stated that the blue bubble indicated the read reciepts and tyoing indicators turned on.

Yes, even if they have those indicators turned off, you will still have the improved image quality etc from RCS. So the bubble still appears

To further clarify, the indicator does not necessarily represent that you have all the features of RCS in a given conversation, it just shows that a particular conversation is using the RCS Protocol to send messages rather than SMS/MMS.

If the recipient has turned off those controls, you will not see the indicators
