Being that the inevitable is about to occur in about two months, with the demise of Samsung Messages. I believe it is time to pressure Google into creating some type of background feature for Google Messages. I believe that if enough people give feedback requesting this feature, Google will eventually consider doing this. Enough user pressure has Google introducing a trash folder to the app. So, this shows me they listen to user feedback.

All Google needs to do is create a simple background option that is enough to make a messaging app feel personal, warm, and userโ€‘friendly.

All Google would need to do is create a simple background feature that would somewhat mimic Samsung Messages theme intergration without having to overhaul the entire app. They could:

โœ” Let the user pick a color

โœ” Or let the user pick an image from their phone

โœ” Apply it behind the conversation list

โœ” Keep the conversation bubbles readable

They don't need to:
create a theme engine,
introduce wallpaper packs.
Do not need deep One UI integration.
And no Material You gymnastics.

Just a simple background feature to make the app more user-friendly. Verizon showed that this is possible with Verizon Messages+.
Does anyone think this is plausible?

It would be worth giving it a shot, I never indicated that it would happen. I said they listen to user feedback.
The upcoming trash folder is proof of that. I received an update that introduced the trash folder in the Settings section. It just isn't activated yet.

Yes. Because of user feedback asking for that. That's why the recent update has the trash fold
er. It just isn't active yet.
After many user inquiries on the topic, Google had started experimenting with the trash folder in Google Messages Beta app late last year.

I believe that with some user feedback that Google may consider doing this. No one will ever know until they try.
Instead of gripping about the loss of Samsung Messages, I think we can persuade Google to enhance the app.

I never used Samsung Messaging, have always used Google Messaging. Me personally, I don't care about all the customizing, etc. I am straight forward in just getting my information to my contact versus making it all pretty. It's refreshing to see your approach about it than all the boo hooing for the past week.

Understood. But some people just want more. So this is a suggestion, nothing more. Plus, I wouldn't have presented this idea if I thought Google was incapable of pulling off something like this.
