At night I keep my phone on 'do not disturb' when I go to sleep. Notifications are only allowed from those on my contact list. I keep my phone facedown charging wirelessly (I lay the wireless charger on top) on my nightstand. I have now received a flash notification during this time, which when this happens it illuminates the whole room and is quite noticeable. At first I thought I somehow had indvertently turned flash notifications to 'on'. But no ... I'm trying to figure out what is triggering this flash notification because in general do not use flash notification. I have checked the following: - notification history by time to see which coincides with the time of the flash notification - notification settings - flash notifications in accessibility - any apps that specifically have a notification present when I wake up - looked at photos to see if the camera had randomly taken a picture The only one in the history that was close to that time of the flash, was that the device reached full charge. But I didn't think or know that reaching full charge could trigger a notification, and a flash at that IF that's the one that did it. Should it? No apps show that flash notification is enabled. And I don't think that flash can be turned on individually for apps, or can it be? I have not seen a flash setting for individual apps. Anyone else experience this random flash notification? Is there a way to look see what process(es) have used which notifications such as flash, although that setting is actually turned off? Thanks!

Have you specified in the notification settings which contacts can come through with notifications, etc by manually adding them? Also this can be set up in the "Calls" section too. Go to Settings/Notifications/Do not disturb and make sure there are no apps listed in the "Allowed during Do not disturb" section. Then under that same section in "Calls and messages", add those you want to be able to get through only and on calls, there are four settings that can be chosen.

Is it actually the screen flashing, or somehow the flash/flashlight is activating?

Do you have any accessibility settings on? Look in settings/accessibility/hearing enhancements/sound notifications and make sure it is off.  If it is on, and it is random, it could be alerting you to unusual or loud ambient sounds in your home.  This would cause the flash to go off.  Have you accidentally tapped the sound notification icon in the quick panel?  This will also activate the accessibility setting.  You can turn it off and remove it from view in your quick panel to prevent accidental activation.
