Five days ago I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra to a Galaxy S25 Ultra. I used Smart Switch thinking EVERYTHING would transfer including app notifications. Wrong! After four days of hair pulling and research, I put together the following procedure that worked the first time I tried it. I hope this helps!
To reset to app provided sound notifications on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra,
Settings > Apps, tap the three-dot menu (top right), and select Reset app preferences. This action restores default notification settings, permissions, and background data restrictions for all apps, fixing issues with hidden or malfunctioning alerts.
Steps to Reset Notification Preferences:
Open Settings.
Tap on Apps.
Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner.
Select Reset app preferences.
Tap Reset to confirm.
Restart the phone.
After you Reset App Preferences:
Go to Settings > Apps.
Select the specific app.
Tapping Notifications and toggling them off and on, or adjusting specific notification categories.
There will be third party apps with notifications turned off. To turn on the notifications for the specific apps, click โNotification Categoriesโ. You will most likely see a grayed out message โNo Categories Availableโ. Ignore the message and turn on notification for the desired apps. Restart the phone. The app provided sound will be used the next time apps send a notification.
I agree. However the antenna was defective and the screen started getting green spots. It was not receiving some calls and dropping calls as well. The last update was Android 13 and no more planned. I'm happy the 25 so far.
