Samsung has lost their minds!! Ummm Best Buy is giving customers free double storage & $700 instead of the $650 Samsung is giving for the Galaxy S23 Ultra!! Amazon is also offering Free Double storage and a $200 Amazon gift card!

Amazon isnt offering trade ins and Samsung is offering 41% off all accessories AND a $50 pre order credit. As for storage,  it doesn't much matter. Everyone stores everything on the cloud, not their phones. The only benefit wpuld be the 1TB option,  so you can get the upgraded RAM. Since I have platinum status,  they also doubled my samsung rewards value, so I got an additional $71 off.

Yes, it's the trade-in offers that make it worth buying straight from Samsung. As far as storage, yes, I think it matters allot because my apps take up ALLOT of the space. I got the 1T this time, just to have app freedom and also to really use the new camera to it's fullest. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have never run out of storage or even come close to it on a phone. Photos should always be cloud stored not only to avoid junking up your phone, but to not lose them in the event of a catastrophic loss or theft of the phone. Even the base storage, you would need to have 200 1gig apps on your phone to suck it all up. Outside of heavy hitter games, like call of duty, its rare an app is even 500meg let alone a whole gig. The only benefit to the 1TB 26U was the extra 4gigs of RAM. Although I'm not sure why anyone needs 16gigs of RAM in a phone (trust me, im no stranger to need vs want lol). Its not like you are rendering CAD drawings or designing VR games on your phone. Minus skipping the awful 25 series, I get a new phone on launch day every year. I have zero issues spending money, but the fact the 256 26U cost me less than $430 after trade in and Samsung Offers program discounts and the 1TB would have been $1400, I couldn't justify what essentially would average out to $117/mo for ownership. From the rumors, its the 27U thats going to be the game changer anyway. But the important thing is you got what you wanted!

@MattyPants Not everyone stores any or everything on any or every cloud.
In the long term the cost factoring is minor compared to the value of your "off site data" now that USBB or portable SSD drives are high capacity, small form factor and sole possession of the user.
When a user fills a cloud cap and forced into the next "monthly rental space" or begin to delete files to maintain current levels, cloud files average 45 days prior to their actual disposal.

Singular local storage on a portable device is as dumb as using your mailbox to store all your money. If you don't want to have a basic cloud service, like OneDrive or Google Drive, then build out a NAS for your own cloud. I use OneDrive for general backup because it syncs across multiple platforms very easily. But all data my household generates dumps to my personal server with 20TB of total space. Because I agree, large scale storage on a commercially available cloud service is extremely expensive.
