On my unlocked US model S8, the Do Not Disturb icon is missing from the status bar when Do Not Disturb mode is activated. This is a major problem because you cannot tell when that mode is on/off.
Model: SM-G950U1
Build number: NRD90M.G950U1UEU1AQH3
Others have complained about the bug here:

I have seen people say that a factory reset and restore fixes the issue.
I did not want to waste that much time.
I was able to fix this issue by going to:
settings > notifications > advanced > show apps with blocked notifications
If you see SYSTEM UI is blocked then click the top right menu dots and click reset app preferences.
You will need to grant permission to some apps again but now my DND icon works again.

Same issue here - I think since I configured a Gear VR but I am not sure.
Would like to know how to resolve this.

I'm experiencing the same issue, no 'Do Not Disturb' icon in status bar when activated. I'm also missing the icon that reflects when the screen is locked in portrait orientation.

Thanks a lot! I generally consider myself an Android power user, but didn't did deep enough in the settings this time! You saved me a lot of wasted time doing a factory reset
