Where you able to delete old prints when in safe mode ?

If the answer is yes. Try entering your fingerprints using your finger at a right angle instead of vertical.  For some reason and I don't know why, the reader pad gets stubborn and it takes many,many trys to get it read. As you can imagine you would not want anybody else to open your phone.

Also before you do any of the above, make sure you go to software updates in your settings menu and manually update your phone.

Got the same problem with the fingerprint scan.  Is Samsung working on a fix other than restarting or deleting and rescanning my prints in safe mode?

I can't even get to the fingerprint settings whether in normal or safe mode my phone says:

"an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor.  If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device."

 

I have had this phone for over a year and i didn't use the fingerprint scanner for unlock I only started using it a few weeks before it failed.  This is ridiculous.  There needs to be a solution that doesn't include factory reset.

There is a solution.


1. settings -> apps -> top right corner choose "show systemapps"

2. scroll down and choose "fingerprint" app

3. top right choose enforce stop

4. go in Play store and updates all your apps wait to all updates is completely done

5. turn off your S8

Hey, @userqE3ftVTr0Z, you can find these steps previously posted in this thread 😸

 

1. Power your device down
2. Then power it back on
3. Pressing and holding the Volume Down key when you see the Samsung logo
