I am with Att and this is an issue. I reset my phone and lost all my settings for nothing. This.is.horrible.
Already accepted no personalized text tones now no caller ID??
I do work for Samsung actually.
Also, this was an update sent out by Sprint, people with that carrier were the only ones affected. The steps to fix it are all here though, in this thread the same as many others.
Have you guys released a patch for this yet? I am still being told to update the contacts app but if it is going to cause this to happen again than I won't. Lack of communication from you guys on an issue as wide spread and phone bricking as this is astounding.
Solution did NOT work any idea when this will be fixed? I have phone to make and receive calls also paying a lot of money for this phone. I should not have to do a reset on phone which requires me to set everything back up because an app update was released that messed up the caller id app an is "buggy"
So I have Settings > Apps > though I do not See Caller ID?
So I'm missing:
Caller ID > Force Stop > Clear Cache > Clear Data.
I do have Calelr ID Name Talker which is another app I use to speak caller ID names out loud.
Any idea on what I should try?
If your provider is AT&T, you could try disabling the Call Protect app. This issue was driving me nuts and I, too, did not have a "Caller ID" app. This is, apparently, an AT&T issue - AT&T devices do not come with the "Caller ID" app. Elsewhere in this thread, someone suggested disabling Call Protect. That did the trick for me.
