I recently purchased a Galaxy S8 from Freedom Mobile. When trying to download Samsung Pay, it says the app is not compatible with my device. I have not rooted or tampered with the OS. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Turns out, Samsung Pay hasn't launched in Canada yet... It is in its "Early Access" stage in Canada. I went to the following link, registered for Early Access and everything worked well! (Right now it only works for select banks, but I got lucky and it worked for me!) Thanks for your help and support @Acrillix!
Does it say what OS it is looking for? There was a bug with Samsung Email requiring 7.1 a bit ago.
Please verify your OS Version (Settings > About Phone)
After that, restart the phone (that is if you are on 7.0) and try again.
Try clearing the cache for the Google Play Store
@user0jeu373ft3 Did you clear the cache?
Go to Settings->Apps->All Apps, find Play Store there, clear its data and cache, do the same with Play Services and check if solves the issue.
Check to make sure GPS and Mobile Data are turned on
Open the app, tap Settings, scroll down to Build Version, tap to enter. If there is an update option select it and allow it to update. Try to download an app and see if it works.
If it says it is already up to date, try the following: From Main Menu on phone go to Settings > Apps > swipe right to All > Scroll down to Google Play Store, tap to enter, tap clear data. Try to download an app. Hopefully, this may help you.
I followed all the steps but it still wouldn't let me download Samsung Pay. Should I check with Freedom Mobile? It was mentioned somewhere something about international/unlocked devices not supporting Samsung Pay...? If it helps, I'm in Canada.
Yes please do. Let me know what happens!
