Text Messages Disappering

My Samsung S8+ is randomly deleting my text messages, again.  It happens everyone once in a while, I will text someone and I see it go through and then it disappears right after.  I will ask the people if they received it and they did, but it drives me insane!  Plus, all my text messages could be considered legal documents, so I cannot lose any of them!

I've tried restarting my phone in safe mode and that did not help.

Re: Text Messages Disappering

I would like to look into this for you. Let's look at a couple of things first.

Are you using the text app that came with your phone?

Hav eye made sure that your phone is up to date on its software?

Have you tried clearing the cache partition on your phone?

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
  5. Press the Power key to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Re: Text Messages Disappering

I followed the instructions above and my messages did not return either.  I have two messages now, one from this year and one from last year, neither of which are important. Is there a way, other than the procedure above to retrieve lost messages? I have a galaxy S10 with all apps updated and the latest software update installed and I'm using the default messaging app. Do I need to find a third party app to do my messaging?
