So apparently there's a problem with the S9+ color display that causes a very noticeable gradient banding.
From what I understand, Samsung is already looking into it, but I thought it'd be important to post it here as well.
I can definitely see it on my S9+, very disappointing ☹
Please see the long thread about it over at Android Central:

The issue seems quite widespread and I hope Samsung comes with an official response on this soon.
A lot of users have already been through multiple replacements and all of them still have it. So far only the Plus model is reported to have this problem.

I am having the same issue. Based on the thread at XDA, it might be tied to one of the newer software updates but not totally sure. We need to keep reporting this to Samsung so they can fix it.

I notice the black crush too. For now, I am trying a temporary fix with the Screen Balance app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIt363ZtWtQ&t=81s . Hope Samsung will fix this soon. By the way, did anyone notice the screen flashing or flicker when watching HDR content?
