G965u1 Security patch T-Mobile

I purchased an unlocked G965u1 Galaxy S9+ directly from Samsung.

Using T-Mobile as the carrier, and I have an issue.

I'm stuck on a January 1st, 2019 security patch.

Att, Verizon, and Sprint are currently on an April patch

So when should I expect to get an updated patch?

Btw, Samsung Smart switch didn't pull an update.

Hearing using another carrier sim would flag for update.

Is that true?

Hello there,

I recommend reaching out to your current carrier to further assist you with updates.

I have the same issue as you with s9 sm g960u1 on tmobile. They keep telling us to contact carrier as if we the phone from tmobile. Why does a carrier have control over a phone bought unlocked.

It is a T-Mobile problem.  Just put in a sim that is not t-mobile, and you will get the latest July 2019 update. Any sim from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and so on...   After update, put your t-mobile back.

You can always go to firmware science and flash the correct firmware onto your phone using odin

One of the first things i tried. Didn't work.

Got a free Google Fi sum coming in the mail. Gonna activate it with a new number and try to pull security updates that way.

A backup plan is trying an H20 prepaid sim, they run off att.

Thus mess is mainly on T Mobile i believe, yet Samsung hasn't helped much in a remedy.

Got a Google Fi sim card in mail (free of charge) and setup my old Google voice number.

Used Wifi to activate sim card (not to incur any charges), and waited 5 mins.

And, sure enough, both the March and April patches were waiting.

T Mobile is the one to blame.
