I also am very disappointed with this change. If I would have known this option would not be available, I would have reconsidered upgrading my phone. I miss the ability to personalize my phone and Samsung is slowly taking away those options with each update.

Would really be nice if we could change the the background color on the text messages app. Also to send be able to change led color for text notification and vibration pattern to tell the difference  between notifications. When recieving a text a message have the option between long vibration or short multiple vibration. Possible  a sound lotto g you know your text message as sent. Settings In the text message app are  very limited.

Yea make the messaging app more customizable, thats why we like android and we cant even change the color of our text. Please listen to your customer's

I know they took a lot away from customizing your phone. You have to download themes and now I'm having an issue receiving my read reports. I just got the s9 and they were working fine until a couple days ago.

Experienced the same issue  A simple fix is from your Home screen minimize page to see Themes  from the Samsung Theme Store and I recommend you find a darker Theme  wait for your choice to fully open and check out how the Theme will look on each page. Home, Phone and Message the important one  When you decide hit download =when complete hit apply ! Hopefully this reply helps you out? (I tried to open Samsung Theme Store from their app but I couldn't get Themes to change the issue on the Messenges page? I will try this but it should be more customization within the whole app. i hinkit would make it better as a whole. Also to have everything under the settings you extra downloads don't have to take place. Definitely appreciate your feedback and suggestion.

Are used to have the Galaxy note 8. I love all the features and capabilities of that phone. I know have the Galaxy S9 plus. It is a really great phone and I just purchased it today. I am going to the phone and to find out the customization background Is not an option. I thought customization of Samsung phones. Is to customize the phone the way the customer sees fit and not limited to any Non customization. I hope in the next software update that you will put this feature back on the Galaxy S9 plus thank you for your time

I went from a Lower spec S7 edge and i am so disapointed in whats missing that i used the 360 sphere option in the camera has gone as they want you to buy there camera, changing the messaging app has been there ever since the S came out.

this is the first S i am disapointed with and im not the only one

the Press say how amazing the phone is ( so they get there free phone)

but Listern to the real users and give us back what we had before and what we likes
