Galaxy S9+ rear camera not working after October security patch

JUMP TO SOLUTION

As the title says, I get a warning message that says the camera has failed.  It worked perfectly fine the night before I updated.  I've tried clearing the app data/cache, restarting the phone, booting in safe mode, and even factory resetting.

It seems to work in safe mode now, any Ideas as to what apps might be causing the issue?

if it's working in safe mode then it's a third party app that's interfering with it you'll have to go through each and every third party app and uninstall it and find out which one it is

Do you get the same warning message if you are in safe mode?

Try this:

  1. Turn your phone completely off
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby/Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
  4. An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition from the given options.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then and press the Power key to confirm selection.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
