Moving files and making SD default storage

JUMP TO SOLUTION

How do you move files to your SD card on the s9+? It allowed me to when there was too much space on the phone when transferring files from my old device, but not when there was free space. The option to "move"  files doesn't show up in the Edit, only "details"

How do I make SD card the default storage for apps such as gallery or Samsung music? I followed the steps (I screenshot and attached here) but I only have options to "clear" things, not "change"

Thank you

go to samsung folder - my files

you will see recent files, then categories, then "phone"

Beneath phone is "internal storage" and "SD card"

Select internal storage and scroll down to the folder called pctures or photos or whatever it might be called.... you might also have a DCIM folder - there could be pictures in there too

long press it - a tick box appears next to it and three dots in the top right corner

Press the three dots and you have an option to "move"

I hope that helps - it took me a while to figure out that you have to go in this way - doing it from the pictures storage straight away only gives you "details"

Same problem on an S9.  'Move' option does not show up, only 'Details'.  Would appreciate any advice.

I have the same problem.  Very frustrating that none of the answers address this basic issue.

Hey folks! While it isn't possible to make the SD card the default storage space (largely due to the Android OS) you can still move pictures over to it.

  1. Go to the General Setting of your Galaxy S9.
  2. Tap on Storage & USB.
  3. Browse through and click on Explore. (You are using the file manager here.)
  4. Select the Picture folders.
  5. Tap on the Menu button.
  6. Choose Copy to SD Card.

Be sure to click " ✓ Accept as Solution" when you find an answer that works for you.

True, but there is no USB & storage or any similar setting—nothing that even remotely resembles access to my SD card.

Wouldn't you want to 'move' files instead of 'copy'? If you copy your not freeing up any space
