Samsung Galaxy S9 – Apps not working or updating after System Update May 2020:
1) Some apps do not work anymore. If I uninstall an app, cannot reinstall it
2) Play Store – Update Apps – receive “Error Checking for Updates”
3) Unable to install an App – Receive one of the following messages: continuous “waiting for download” message OR “Something went wrong. Try again.”
Any assistance on resolving these issues is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried wiping the cache partition on your device?
The system cache partition stores temporary system data. It's supposed to allow the system to access apps more quickly and efficiently, but sometimes things get cluttered and outdated, so a periodic cache clearing can help make the system run more smoothly.
Give these steps a try to wipe the cache partition on your device:
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
An 'Installing system update' message will show for 30 - 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
Press Power key to select.
Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device
Let me know if this helps!
Thanks for your reply. I wiped the cache partition on my device and I am still having problems. Since my issues don't seem to be a problem for others, I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong with my Google Play Store App. I will research Play Store Update Issues to see if I can find a resolution.
I appreciate your assistance. Take care
No worries! You can try clearing the cache for the Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Google Framework apps using these instructions: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00077611
The weather Home app is stealing your Samsung Galaxy UI interface and hiding apps, display options etc. Go to apps, select weather, navigate to the settings and choose UI ( not weather home) as control... and magically, the old phone interace returns. Took me 2 hours to figure it out after my mom's phone had to be set up from scratch after an issue. Hope this works for you.
