I have an S9+, and recently my brother got the same phone, and when I was helping set his up, I noticed he was several versions ahead of me. I tried checking for a software update in the settings, but nope, i'm stuck at android version 8.0.0.
Did a little digging on google and reddit, and found out (presumably) it's because when I got my phone, it was unlocked, but has AT&T software I can't remove. I have a plan with telus, but they didn't mention anything of it when I had everything set up.
Anyone able to help me remove the software for good and get current updates? I've read a dozen reddit posts about flashing, but they all seemsto have big warnings and caution around it. Is there no safe way to remove carrier software? How is that legal to essentially lock a phone out of updates?
