Active 2 will not hold charge

I got my Active 2 for xmas and it will not hold a full day of charge if I use it in standalone mode.  I am unable to have my phone on my person at work and the watch was given to me for the purpose of being able to reach me easier in an emergency.   Unfortunately, if my phone is not on me my battery lasts less than 8 hours.........

I have the battery optimized. Any other ideas? Should I send it back? The firmware is also up to date.

Help!!!!!

Have you attempted to fully back up the watch and perform a reset recently?

Here's some instructions for backup and reset.

From a Home screen on your companion phone tap the Galaxy Wearable app 

-From the Home tab, tap Account and backup.
    If prompted, sign in to your Samsung account.

-Tap Back up and restore.

-Tap Back up data.

-Select (check) the desired options (e.g., Phone, Messages, Settings, etc.) then tap Back up.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 - Factory Data Reset (Powered On)
-From the watch screen, press the Home button to open the apps screen.
-Double-tap the Settings icon .
-Tap General.
-Tap Reset.
Tap the Checkmark icon. to confirm. If applicable, set up your device.
