Wasn't a Samsung issue. They had to wait for FDA approval, which is notoriously slow.

It's still not approved by the FDA though lol. I doubt we will ever truly know for sure the reason it took so long for BPM to come to the US, but I suspect Samsung was attempting to attain FDA approved for BPM as an official health diagnostic tool, but had to opt for it being a "wellness feature".

You're right. Thanks for the correction. It's is not FDA approved as a medical device for diagnostic and treatment, but is listed as a health and wellness device, which does not require FDA approval. Still, the delay was caused by the time spent seeking the FDA's approval as a medical device for diagnosis and treatment.

You will need a BP cuff to calibrate the watch. If you don't have one in the States most stores like Wal-Mart and Walgreens has them. You can use them to calibrate the watch as well.

Not all cuffs integrate with the Samsung Health app though and I think you calibrate using both an integrated cuff and the watch at the same time. I'm not sure you can calibrate by manually entering the cuff reading. It would be nice to know this, if any user has the ability to verify this.

Also you have to enter the reading you get from the cuff each time. The watch and the phone will not display the watch BP readings until at least 3 readings are entered successfully in the app from the cuff reading.

You enter the cuff reading manually it will make you 3 readings to enter for an average. Good for 30 days

You can find a cuff that will integrate with the Samsung Health app in the app's Settings under Accessories.

Mine did not integrate with Samsung either. It was a manual kind. So all you have to do is record your BP 3 times and enter the values. This calibrates the watch through the Health app. It takes a little longer but is an effective calibration method. You are actually calibrating the watch as it also reads 3 times in unison. However they do not have to be linked.
