I recently upgraded to the new LGV60 vs upgrading to the Galaxy S20 as the LG had more features I liked & I upgraded my Gear S3 to the Galaxy Watch 3. However, now that the FDA has cleared the Blood Pressure Monitor feature to be turned on I am just now finding out that it only works on Samsung devices, and no other Androids. Does anyone know a loophole around this where I don't have to jailbreak either device. Does Samsung plan to support this feature in other Androids in the future? As one of the top selling smart watches in the world I would imagine they would want their features to work across as many devices as possible.

This is really ridiculous!  The Galaxy Watch 3 was marketed and released as having ECG and Blood Pressure monitoring.  It was, initially, released with neither - despite having FDA approval for the ECG.  Now the ECG has been released, in the US, but only to Samsung phones.  Nowhere did it say that this would only be available on Samsung phones.  I have a Pixel, because I want pure Android - I can't stand all the junk that Samsung puts into the Android image they push on their users.   If we, as non-Samsung phone users, are not going to get ECG and BP then we should be compensated financially for the lack of functionality and deceptive marketing by the company.

Plus 1 on this - I bought into the watch3 in part because of this feature.  So an Apple watch is more compatible with neutral Android devices?

When will this be fixed, I received for Christmas and features do not work on my LG. Almost running out of time to send back. If it is not going to working this $500+ watch is going back.

It never will be fixed, these options are ONLY avalible to people owning Samsung galaxy branded phones.  Which Samsung illegally FAILED to disclose until after the feature roll out.
Samsung should have to return ALL OUR MONEY IN FULL for this ripp off by advertising an option they INTENTIONALLY misslead us into beliving we could use.

This is a HUGE violation of consumer protection
Shame on you Samung, I thought yall were better than that.

No Samung has stated that going further all extra features are only capable to someone 100% in their ecosystem.

I hope enough users get together and sue them

Whoa! After hours of trying to figure out how to enable ECG and blood pressure, I stumble across this thread, and now I am fuming!

When researching watches, absolutely nowhere did I see anything in the Samsung literature that says this only works with Samsung phones. These features were one of the reasons I bought a Watch 3.

Has Samsung officially stated that these features will never be supported? If so, this watch is going back for e refund.

It's ridiculous and I feel like I've been conned, It amazes me how every other function works bar this, if you ask me Samsung had done this on purpose and are clearly as bad as apple, why would Samsung cripple functions that could be life saving for people like me, I have high blood pressure so I bought into this watch to help me manage it more efficiently. If this was communicated when I was first looking into a purchase I would have steered clear. You should be ashamed of yourself Samsung and given its actually not a hardware feature in the phone why can't the software be adapted to work on any device that supports the same underlying operating system. I want answers Samsung.
