I got the Tizen 5.5 update today here in the US, and along with it the long awaited ECG app (Samsung Health Monitor). Unfortunately, ECG won't work for me. Nothing happens when I put my finger on the back button. I have ensured that the back of the watch is clean, and that the band is nice and snug, but it still won't work. I looked around Reddit and found that a few other people having the same problem as me.

I did some more research and came across an XDA discussion stating that the ECG sensor on some Active2 watches may be damaged due to the long inactivity period.

I talked to Samsung Support on Twitter and they agreed that this is a hardware issue, and that a replacement of components (the back button and maybe the entire sensor) will be needed.

How does Samsung plan to address this? The hardware damage is clearly not our (the users') fault. Had they delivered on their Active2 ECG promise on time, we wouldn't be facing this issue.

I am having the same issues. I would think that the one big thing to look out for is not only the watch update but the Samsung Health update on the phone. Samsung Health updated on my watch on the 24th in the US and didn't include ECG. However, the app on my phone hasn't been updated since late August. I figured they both would need to be to for the watch to have a database to track to.

I finally received the update on my galaxy watch 2 which includes the the samsung health monitor app.  My watch is recognized and it prompts me to complete a profile.  However, once profile is completed and i click continue it will not allow me to move foward.  The blue circle will spin and then it stops and it will stay on profile page.  Any help with this?

The Health Monitor app was crashing for me every time I went in it.  I tried so many things to try to fix it... uninstall app on watch, on phone, clear cache, clear data, many other things.  Ultimately, what fixed the issue for me was to DISABLE the S-Health app and then the Samsung Monitor App worked properly.  I then re-enabled S-Health and they both worked properly.  Good Luck!  (PS, I was using the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy Active Watch 2)

My Galaxy watch active 2 has now been updated to Tizen 5.5.0.1 and I have a Google Pixel 3XL with Android 11.

I do not have the Health Monitor app available to me to take ECG. I have reset my watch and cleared the cache on the Samsung-connected apps on my phone. I also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Samsung Health App on my phone. Nothing has worked so far. Has anyone else had this issue?

This sounds similar to my issue.  I have a surface duo and when asking about how to update the apps on the watch they came to the conclusion that my device (the Duo) is not supported so there's nothing I can do.

First thing to try, if you haven't, is to go to the discover section of the wear app and see if you get anything to load.  Mine doesn't which means I could not update the watch apps.  From my understanding from forums in the past people have had to trick the Galaxy store app into thinking they have a supported phone which then allowed the galaxy store app to be installed and thus updating the watch apps.  I wouldn't recommend this as it could mess with other things.  I would still email or provide feedback to Samsung to request they officially support your device in hopes that it will be done.

On a more positive note the pixel and pixel2 are supported so there's hope that the 3 & 4 will be as well.
