No recent posts. Anything new?
Poster who said FDA only approved ECG for Samsung phones has not yet posted a link to something that supports that statement. Also, nobody has shown where Samsung limited the ECG on the Active 2 to their phones (unless they've changed their advertising recently).
Samsung must be joking... I just found out that my Active 2, after FDA approval and all that ridiculous wait, won't show me the damned Samsung Health Monitor app nowhere because it's an exclusive feature for Galaxy phones.
Samsung advertises this absolutely nowhere. At no moment Samsung made this clear.
This is a complete horror show. I was years without Samsung hardware just because of nonsense like that, and when I come back... BANG! Things just got worse!
Congratulations, Samsung! I will make sure to buy a Wear OS watch next time!
There is a thread that has numerous posts on this topic. However, for some reason, I am no longer able to post to that thread. It says "Read Only". Others, however, have posted as late as today, Saturday, October 24.
The issue is failure to advertise that the ECG function promoted heavily for the Active 2 would work only with Samsung phones. The latest post to that "other thread" stated that FDA approval limited the funcitonality to Samsung phones and is the second poster to state this. However, I have requested a link or an official press release from the FDA that states that limitation. Nobody has, to date, provided that proof.
Samsung, other functionality exists for users of non-Samsung android phones and, therefore, it was reasonable to expect the ECG function would work as well. Will you be updating the generic android app to provide this functionality or not? If so, when?
It seems really awful to have this function that was promised a year ago (for gear fit 2) become active BUT ONLY IF YOU ALSO HAVE A SAMSUNG PHONE. Really? REALLY?!?! I bought this watch because it works with my Pixel phone. All other features work well. But this on? This one is only for people who also bought a Samsung phone? I'm selling my watch immediately. This is so, so shady of you, Samsung. I'll never buy any of your products, ever again. Shame on you.
Do not forget you also need an additional app to Samsung Health called Samsung Health Monitor so your information is not all in the same app to share with your doctor.
And diabeties support was also discontinued!
Agreed, there is no reason why this feature should not be released to those of us with non-Samsung devices when all Galaxy Watches were marketed as this function will be available once cleared by FDA (or other country governing bodies). It said nothing to the extent that this major selling feature would be limited to Samsung-only phones.
This is false advertising at it's best and honestly, Samsung would be smart to release Samsung Health Monitor for all Android and iOS phones, or combine it into Samsung Health and include the ECG feature <edit>. You sold at least two watches now with the promise of ECG, and it's greedy to lock it down to sell more phones. Ridiculous.
I haven't seen any news. Like many others, I purchased the Active 2 expecting all functionality to be available on non-Samsung phones once they got FDA approval. Now I find out that you have to have a Samsung phone and it's too late for me to return the watch.
