So. I'll say. I ranted and raved how notifications were not coming through or were a hit or miss on the Galaxy Watch 4. I was mad and frustrated. Then found out maybe it's the tattoos and not making contact with my skin right. Well my Galaxy Active 2 worked correctly no issues. So cleaned it real good. Changed everything in the settings on the phone and app to no avail. Deleted end redownload we the app, restarted it over and reset it over and over. I was getting ready to send this back. So then. I pushed it up my wrist about an inch from where I used to wear it. You can see my tan line a little from where I always wear my watches. Hours and hours later and I'm still receiving notifications and it's staying Unlocked took it off and on and put it in the same spot and it has been fine. Used Google Pay twice with no problems today. This has been the culprit. So for everyone complaining about notifications being a hit or miss, do this. Put it higher on your wrist and make sure the band is snug. I have a stretch band that I can adjust to make tighter. Not super tight but having it on the skin good. I believe the bone in my wrist might have caused the issue. Never had a problem with my other galaxy watches but this one just has to be this way. And guess what? I have tattoos as you can see. No problems. I'm finally happy.

If you add your payment card on Galaxy watch 4 you must have a pin. That's fine if I have to put my pin ONLY, in need to use that option to pay. But every time I need to check my watch, it ask me for pin it's so ANNOYING and wrong. It's forcing me to remove my card and not using that option, so I don't see a pin require just to check the time. PLEASE FIX...

That's weird, I also have the Galaxy Watch 4 and I do not have to put in my pin when I check the time. I only have to enter the pin for payment and after putting my watch back on after charging.

I have posted about this issue before with my Galaxy watch 4 classic and had conflicting answers based on what I researched as well as comments from others. I purchased the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and love it, but it still has the same issue as my last watch; I have a tattoo on my left forearm/wrist and when I wear the watch on that hand I don't receive notifications, the aod doesn't work, none of the sensors to track heart rate, blood ox, sleep, etc work. I still can't get a clear answer as to what is causing the issue. Some people say that they have tattoos and it works fine. Others say I should get a silicone sticker and put it on the bottom so as to help the sensors read deeper beneath the ink (which I've tried on my last watch and it didn't work). I have gotten used to wearing my watch on my right wrist but I still hate it! So is this a real thing? Will the watch not read through tattoo ink? It so, how come some people say that their watch works fine with tattoos?! Help me!! TIA 😊

It just depends on the tattoo. If its fully covering the veins and isn't old enough to have begun to fade, the sensors usually can't get past them. Tattoos that aren't solid color (writing, outlines, patterns etc) will still potentially interfere with the watch depending on where the watch is placed relative to the tattoo and just how much is being covered.

That's good info and it makes sense. My tattoo isn't covering up the whole area and it's about 5 years old but it does cover my veins I think. Thanks for that insight

I have tattoos on my wrists.

When I had a Garmin Vivofit it could see through my tattoo's and give an accurate heartrate and be able to tell it was on my wrist.

I "upgraded" to a Samsung Gear Sport. This watch couldn't see through my tattoos, which hadn't changed, but at least had a setting to still push notifications if it didn't think I was wearing the watch.

When the battery life forced me to get a new watch I went with the newly released Samsung Watch5 Pro, and I'm disappointed. They removed the option to get notifications when the watch didn't think I was wearing it, so now I get no notifications. I've tried tape or the clear dot things and can't get it to work.

Does anyone have any other advice? I'm about to just give up on my Watch5 Pro and get a dumb watch, at least then I won't expect it to send notifications.
