Galaxy Gear Watch not updating time zone

My watch is LTE on Verizon Network and paired with my Samsung Note 9

Over the weekend I was in the next time zone (Central US to Eastern US). My phone updated correctly but my watch did not. I had to reboot my watch to display the correct time.

When I returned home, same result and I had to reboot my watch again.

On the watch if I go to Settings ==> General ==> Date and Time, it is grayed out, can't make changes but says "synced with phone"

The phone is set to the correct time zone for my home area 

Is this a software flaw?
