Hi all,

I'm using Galaxy Watch for several days, the "Always on" display feature is enabled. But at every night the display is switching off, and I need to press a button at night or in the morning to see the time again.

Looks like, it switch off the screen, when the watch are not moving for some time, it looks like a bug.

I realized that AOD only works on my right wrist and not on my left. Possibly because I have a tattoo sleeve on the left so whatever sensor does not recognize I’m still wearing the watch on the left which is very odd because I would think it senses off heart beat and not skin color.

I also have a tattoo sleeve on my left arm down to my knuckles. Switched to right arm with no tattoos and works. Same with heart beat. Have to get use to wearing watch on right wrist now.

How does having a tattoo make this watch unable to read your heartbeat or realize you're wearing it, how does this work with people with dark skin?

Aod stoppen working 'suddenly' . After an hour of trying stuff/settings in this topic (which did not work) . The tattoo remark triggered me.

I switched my nato strap yesterday. From striped to all Black (a nato strap covers the back btw) .

Switching it back to the striped one did the trick for me. So it seems 'sensitive' to the color.

So anyone have any idea what sensor senses the tattoo?
Is it the hartbeat sensor?

Because it is reading hartbeat but AOD isnt working.
Got tatoos on both wrists but tested higher up my arm and it is working there.

And as hartbeat is working I would assume its another sensor.
Maybe it can be fould by placing the right color behind it or something?

Oke, couple of things I have figured out:

1: a sheet of white paper has a hartbeat!

2: a black piece of paper does not.

3: if you stick a white piece of paper over the hartbeat sensor, AOD works.

(I dont know how people with a dark skin dont have problems with this)
4: with the piece of paper attached, the hartbeat still works!

You need to disable 'goodnight mode'  Go to 'settings', 'advanced' then 'goodnight mode' and unclick it.

I just had the same issue and read this thread for a solution. Nothing worked so had to figure out what I had done as I've only had the watch a few hours and suddenly AOD stopped working.  This was the only option I changed. Just disabled it and AOD came straight back

Hi!

My story is exactly the same. Turned of the goodnight mode and it fixed the problem instantly.
