Galaxy Watch Ultra Sleep Data Compromised

Everything is working well with my new Ultra watch, except for one major issue. Sleep data logged has been compromised, with a consistent gap (zero data recorded) between roughly 11:30 pm and 4 am (the actual duration could vary but the gap in the sleep data always occurs in this time window), every night. Actual sleep data is measured through the Galaxy Ultra watch that is connected to my Galaxy S23 Ultra phone. All the standard remedies suggested on the community site, as well as by Samsung itself, have been tried (both on the Galaxy S23 Ultra phone and the Ultra watch) but to no avail. I have read about similar issues with the Ultra watch sleep data, reported mostly by our Asian friends and Tech Radar has written about this issue as well. The fixes cited by Tech Radar in their article, to activate and then deactivate the power saving mode and also to update the Samsung Health app (both these are actually Samsung suggestions) do not work either. Unless Samsung fixes this issue soon, this will be a major disappointment and I will not be using the Ultra watch for my sleep data. An example of the compromised sleep data along with the Tech Radar article are presented below. I've contacted Samsung several times hoping that they will acknowledge the existence of this issue and also reassure their customers that they are working on a resolution for this, but they keep insisting that they have not heard of any such complaints from other Ultra watch users. They are asking me to mail in my watch for repair. I believe that it may not be a watch specific issue but a software issue related to their Health app. Have any of you in the Samsung community experienced this issue and if so, have you resolved this successfully? Thanks.

I have that issue intermittently with my Watch Ultra and s24 Ultra, but it's not consistent. I don't know what some weird bug it would be: since it's supposed to be tracking sleep data, I can't imagine Samsung putting overnight power saving into the firmware. I agree with you, however, that it is been going on long enough that a fix should have been pushed out by now.

Having the same issues! I've even factory reset my watch ultra and set it up as a new watch rather than install the backup. I've uninstalled both Samsung Health as well as Samsung Health Monitor and made sure the watch and apps have full battery access and nothing is in power saving mode. It's super disappointing to have spent all this money on an expensive watch that's supposed to track sleep and Samsung has yet to fix the issues. I've tried all the "fixes" as well, no dice.

This is exactly the problem I'm facing. I have opened this thread outlining this issue in detail. I've contacted Samsung several times and they dismiss me like it's my fault, because nobody else has reported this to them (the Asian posts and the Tech Radar article notwithstanding). I bought this Ultra watch expressly for monitoring my sleep (along with my other daily exercise activities). It's a shame that Samsung is dismissing this and not getting down to the task of finding a resolution for this. I'll wait a bit longer but if they don't come up with a fix, I'm moving on to the Apple ecosystem. Thanks for your post. If more folks who are facing these issues bring this to the attention of Samsung and others in this community, perhaps something positive might be done.

The problem is they DO know that there's an issue because it's all over the internet in all the tech blogs as well as on Reddit. Of course they will drag their feet and not admit that their product isn't doing what they advertised it to do. I've been a long time Samsung customer, decades of devices and appliances, and I'm starting to lose faith in Samsung for not taking ownership and coming up with quick fixes for these advertised features.

You may be right. I'm also a long-time Samsung customer like you and I've so far resisted the temptation to join the Apple ecosystem, despite pressures from family and friends. If the folks at Samsung drag their feet on this issue any longer, I'll have to reluctantly give up on them and go over to the other side. This has already affected my friend who was debating whether to buy the Apple Ultra 2 or the Galaxy Ultra. He's a big outdoors enthusiast and was torn between these two watches. I think my experience with the Galaxy Ultra made his decision to go with the Ultra 2 easy. Oh well....

I note 2 items after the most recent update on the galaxy watch ultra

First, two days after the update noticed my health app was not recording all of sleep info and I began digging into my settings I discovered some features that had been working were now turned off and when I tried to turn them back on, I was required to sign off on a couple of privacy notices and liability releases that appeared. Checking the boxes corrected most of these problems. Second, this did not resolve my Oxygen sensor reporting during sleep (Oxygen sensor app for one time check was working). until I just discovered this post, and I proceeded with Samsung's recommendation for the activation and then deactivation of power savings mode and added a reboot, and which appears to have corrected the problem.

Has Samsung published what improvements or tweaks they addressed with this most recent update? I am most interested in if they are getting up to speed with the newer Bluetooth protocols that have caused so much grief for Hearing Aid users. The S25 phone with the One UI 7.0 significantly improved on the situation, but it is still problematic at establishing, switching and maintaining sound channels for phone calls and streaming, as well as streaming to secondary devices. Auracast from my TV is near perfect but the stream still occasionally drops the signal in one ear or the other. I think some of this may also need attention on the firmware end of the Hearing Aid manufacturer. What I did not appreciate over the last year of these Bluetooth upgrades, was the finger pointing between the hearing aid manufacturers and Samsung, and Android over the implementation of the newer Bluetooth protocols for almost a year before any solutions finally started to emerge. I note that I saw several complaints from Hearing Aid users and Apple over similar connectivity issues.  Hopefully, this will get ironed out over the next couple of months.

Thank you for reaching out. I can certainly understand your concern with the Galaxy watch Ultra not tracking sleep and missing gaps in your sleep schedule. I would recommend submitting an error report as soon as you experience these symptoms, because it will send a log of information for our team of engineers to get a look at the symptoms you are experiencing: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692
