When the watch is not connected to Bluetooth and remote connection is enabled my Galaxy watch 46 will only show "standalone" operation when on WiFi, or Mobile network, It will not remotely connect to the phone as designed. I have tried resetting the watch, resetting the mobile connection, removing and reinstalling "Galaxy wearable", removing and reinstalling my Samsung account. Nothing is working. The watch shows the correct account, I have good signal. I'm loosing my noodles here.

Aside from the current remote connection outage, my watch has pretty much always auto-remote-connected to my phone within a minute of me leaving the house (I have mobile networks set to auto so as soon as it loses the BT connection it fires up the cellular and tries to link up). I think it was less reliable under previous versions of Tizen (or maybe an Android update on the phone has helped). Most cases I could restart the watch and it would connect. Once in awhile, it would fail until I rebooted the phone, but that wasn't too common.

Normally you shouldn't have to do anything to connect remotely, unless you're not leaving your mobile connection on auto and turning it on manually. Once they get the current issue resolved (hopefully within 15 days!), if it fails again, try rebooting the watch and seeing if that helps.

I've done hard resets on both the watch and phone. Will not connect remotely.

Seems like Samsung isn't fixing this issue. What's the point in buying a watch and paying an extra 10 a month if I can't connect remotely. Pointless.

TIer 1 support doesn't operate on the assumption that a core service has a fault, so they always start at the customer side (restart, reset, etc.). It's frustrating in cases like this, but when something like this happens it always takes some time to get critical mass of users writing in to determine that it's a systemic problem and has to be escalated to engineering. Though I'd like to think Samsung employees might have noticed this and caught it more quickly. I'm sure they'll fix it; it's a huge part of the functionality.

I really would like to see some way of identifying where the issue is, even as an end user. Remote connection is such a black hole. I understand the idea is for it to "just work", but a little diagnostic info would go a long way. I'm assuming it takes two connections for remote connection to work. The watch to the server, and the phone to the server. Whether that's just a handshake or not, it should be easy to show that something is failing and where the problem is, so that instead of having all of us restarting and resetting our devices all morning, it would have been clear that there was an error connecting to the server. Had I seen that, and knowing that my watch LTE function was normal, I would have assumed it was a server issue and waited. I almost reset my phone over this, and I'm glad I didn't.

Add me to the list of people with this issue. Att galaxy watch and ATT s10+.  Just noticed today it will not remotely connect no matter what I do. I have done factory resets and tried a multitude of connection combinations (wifi, LTE etc) and nothing will get it to remotely connect. LTE is working and numbershare is working so I can still text and call but cannot get remote connection for all my other notifications. Really hope they fix this ASAP. Between this and my HR/step counter issues I am not a happy customer at the moment.

Agree. Many were instructed to reset or even factory reset the phone. Losing time to restore everything and even missing valuable data.

@SamsungAdam

Thank you for escalating this issue.

Is this going to be like the Note 9 camera freezing issue where it was escalated and we wait 6 months for confirmation that there's a patch coming to fix the problem.

Except there was no separate patch and we had to wait for the Android 9.0 OneUI update to fix the camera software.

Hopefully we don't have to wait 6 months for confirmation there's a patch to fix this. And then we'll have to wait for Android Q to release for the fix.

If this is the case I'm returning the two Galaxy Watches I just bought from T-Mobile right now before my return window is over

@SamsungAdam any news? Just went jogging and it makes the watch useless for someone who needs to receive important WhatsApp and SMS notifications.
