Do you think Samsung might return to its own OS on its Galaxy Watch? Wear OS is unnecessarily heavy; what's the point of having access to the Play Store if you can't really use all the apps except for WhatsApp, Spotify, or maybe a social network or two? How likely is it that something like TizenOS will return? It would be incredible if Wear OS's aggressive power consumption became a thing of the past and Galaxy Watches with up to 3 or 4 days of battery life made a comeback.

Not at all likely for Tizen to return. App makers don't want to program for it.

How many apps do you need for a simple watch????

It's not so much the apps, it's the watch faces.  People are bananas over their watch faces and developers will just not design for an orphan OS.

Unfortunately, Tizen watches have been discontinued and are unlikely to ever return.

I would not anticipate that Galaxy watches will run anything other than Wear OS going forward.

If you feel Wear OS is too heavy for a watch OS and would like a more feature-light experience, you may consider the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 as an alternative.

The Fit 3 does not run Wear OS and is capable of up to 14 days of battery life.

I hate Google. I don't even have an account. Got my watch to work without any accounts. I'm not going back. The new update had to cripple assistant and all the Google apps I had taken off now put back on with the update. I'm not connecting it to a phone or watch. I will eat the cost and never buy another Samsung. I have no Google account on my phone thinking about getting rid of the Samsung one, too.

You hate Google, yet you CHOSE to have an Android phone. Android is Google and Google is Android.  With or without an account, you are stuck with Google services and Google's OS.  Those are the facts of life.   Every other manufacturer of Android phones and watches will give you Google apps and services. If you hate Google, may I suggest you switch to Apple?  No Google involved there.  If you do not like Apple either...well, there's always landlines and pencil and paper.  They still make paper maps.

I'm very thankful and grateful they switched over to WearOS, because TizenOS has always been very poor in quality and support on their old watches and devices. Now, I'm not sure if it would be that way in the present/future, due to their latest fancy smart TVs still running Tizen and it running pretty well, but still that's a major difference in size to hold tech.
