Galaxy Watch

Hey everyone,

My mom recently got a Galaxy Watch 7 LTE that she wants to use independently from her phone, specifically for emergencies — she wants to be able to send an SOS message including her location if needed.

We’re using a multi-SIM setup,  so the watch has its own mobile connection and works without the phone nearby. We've triple-checked all relevant settings (location sharing, permissions, etc.) with support staff from experts.

Here’s what’s working:
When the watch is not connected to the phone (no Bluetooth), pressing the SOS button successfully calls the emergency contact and sends an SMS to selected contacts with a message like "The sender needs urgent help.”

But here’s the problem: The additional SMS which should contain her location, is not sent. The watch shows a message saying "Cannot send SOS”.

However, when the watch is connected to a phone via Bluetooth, and the SOS feature is triggered, the location ís included in the SMS — though I suspect it might be the phone’s location rather than the watch’s.

So in short: When the watch is standalone (LTE-only), it doesn't send location in SOS messages.
But when connected via Bluetooth, it does.

Has anyone run into this issue? Is there a workaround to make the watch send its own GPS location when not paired with a phone?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like number sync isn't set up which is your mobile plan. Check the wearable app on your phone. Go to watch settings, mobile plans and make sure it's turned on. If not, thats why only certain features are working in Bluetooth range

You need to take this problem to your carrier. They are responsible for the watch's LTE connectivity working properly.

Thank you all for your replies. Number Sync is set up correctly, location services are turned on, and LTE connectivity is working properly. The watch does send SMS messages in LTE mode when SOS is activated,  However, it does not send the additional SOS message with the watch's location (as the phone does when SOS is activated). I visited a Samsung repair store for advice. They were familiar with the issue and told me it should be resolved in future software updates.
