Show Last App Changes are Terrible

My Ultra watch recently updated and now when I'm running and look at my watch, instead of my running app (Strava) displaying on my watch, like it always has, the display goes back to the home screen. I searched through all the options and it seems like now the maximum 'show last app' option is two minutes. Why would Samsung change this? It basically removes the option for the user, it's like getting rid of a useful option for no reason.

As a soccer coach, I also use the timer frequently, now I have to search for the timer app if I put my arm down for more than two minutes. This really needs to be changed back. Why would anyone want to fumble with their watch to find their running app while running.

Yes, the tiny Strava app should display at the bottom of the watch, but if you're running two apps (Like Strava and Spotify) only one is in the forefront (Spotify by default), this is a terrible and totally unnecessary change with no work around that I've found.

Change your now bar visibility to show text and icon. Also an app running in the background will appear in a little circle at the 6:00 position.  Tapping the icon will bring up the stats screen.  If you use the timer or stopwatch often, it's best to add it as a complication on your watch face and the count will appear in the complication.  It's not perfect or the way it used to be, but at least you will have the visibility.  Tapping the complication will bring up the full screen. As for running two apps, I never actually knew two apps could be visible on the watch, but if you add the now bar with text, my guess is it would stack and you can slide it over to access the other app. I've always used the music controller while running my exercise routine, so I didn't really need it on my screen, as I rarely skip ahead and just let my music play.  While exercises started in the health app will stay on the full screen, my guess is that Strava will minimize because it's not part of the system.

How do you change the now bar visibility?

In the watch settings or in the wear app, go to advanced features/now bar.  Change the now bar style for the elements you want.  Your choices of style are icon only (at 6:00) or icon with text, which will put the bar just over the 6 position.  It's tiny but at least you will be able to see the stats/count as long as it's running.  Unfortunately there is no options for other apps other than what is listed, so Strava will suffer.

Putting the now bar on the watch is stunning in its idiocy.  I'm with the rest of you, there was nothing wrong with the always on tile.

The problem is even if you do this, if you're running Strava and also listening to music on Spotify, only Spotify shows up as a bar at the bottom, I'm not sure why but it seems to take priority. This update makes no sense, they market the watch as a tool for running/hiking and then push all the apps used for those activities to the back. I'm looking at Garmin watches now.

Yes im also having the same problem. I only use strava on my watch and now this update means everytime I do something the watch goes back to the main screen. Its incredibly difficult to press the buttons to get back to the strava screen while running and trying to see my pace and the time ive been running for. I have searched every possible menu and setting and cant get it to stay on the screen. I've now given up. Samsung if your reading this im so annoyed with this stupid update. I have no idea why youve taken this feature away. I now cannot use the watch properly. I am probably going to buy a garmin now as I cant use strava on Samsung properly anymore unless you cha get it back soon!!!

I'm with you, I'm looking at Garmin alternatives. If I just wanted  to see the face of the watch while running, I'd wear a standard watch that I didn't have to recharge every night.
