I received my pre-ordered Watch 6 Classic, 47mm LTE 3 days early yesterday and had a heck of a time getting it activated. I spend close to 3 hours on the phone with Teir1 and Teir 2 support before it activated.
First I set up the watch as NEW and followed all the prompts including those for activation and it appeared to work... Until I tried a stand alone call and then it gave me the Emergency Calls only notice. So I reset it and tried again....Same thing.
I then called Verizon and went through the steps with the Rep and she sent me the QR code. We tried 3 different QR codes and still the same issue, the ESIM would not configure.
So off I go to Tier 2 and we try basically the same steps again, each time the rep messing with the Provisioning on her side and generating a new QR code and each time it failing with the same error which was the the ESIM wasn't configured.
On the 4th try after numerous Factory Resets and numerous Provisioning tweaks the ESIM finally configured.
In the end we still didn't know what the issue was but I was happy I wasn't packing up the watch and sending it back.
So I'm liking my Watch 6 with the biggest change for me even over my Watch 5 Pro is the larger screen and my ability with my bad eyes to see everything much better. I can even see the complications in those watch faces which are packed with information.... something I couldn't do in the past.

Galaxy WatchI'm having the same issue with the watch 5 pro lte. It's fine on Bluetooth but will not connect to LTE, wearable app says "Verizon doesn't offer wireless plans for this watch error code :-1" but Verizon says it does and says it's activated on their end. Spent several hours on phone with Verizon and Samsung. Went to Verizon store and in the end they told me it's because I have a unihertz atom l phone. I thought the watch pro 5 LTE could be used as stand alone. I love the size of this small phone, so tired of small tablets passed off as cellphones. Now I'm wondering if I should buy a Samsung phone and if that would solve my issues. I've had the watch 2 days now.

Galaxy WatchGalaxy watch 5 and newer require an Android 8 or newer Android phone with your mobile plan to activate.
You could buy or borrow an Android phone, stick your SIM in it, purchase the stand alone connected device plan from Verizon and activate the watch. Then go back to your iPhone.
In this context, Stand Alone refers to the LTE phone number. All other functions of the watch still require the Android phone so with an iPhone, it's not going to get notifications or any of that stuff, it will just make and receive calls and texts.
The watch will be able to receive calls and text to it's own number and with call forwarding, phone calls to your iPhone can be answered as well.
I ran my Galaxy Gear phones on Stand alone plans until I moved up to the Watch 3 at which time I went with Number Share from Verizon and it worked fine with call forwarding. It was a while ago but I think I did something with Google Voice so that my Watch had access to all my voice mails.

Galaxy WatchSorry to hear it's not working -- surprisingly, that part of my setup went flawlessly -- although it could be because I had it set up previously on the Pro5 and it was a "move" to the new device.
