Unfortunately, you just missed the steep discounts and high trade in values that were available during black Friday and Cyber week sales. Mid-cycle upgrade trade in values tend to be lower to discourage upgrading before key points in the cycle.
I just visited Samsung.com and the price for the Watch 8 Classic is $499.99 without trade-in and $299.99 with trade-in of either Watch 6 or 7. That's a $200 difference.
In the Shop Samsung app, it is $349.99 without trade-in and $299.99 with trade-inn of either Watch 6 or 7. That's only a $50 difference.
