TV won’t connect to ethernet

I have a UN55KS800DFXZA Series 800 TV that I’m trying to connect via ethernet.  Every time I plug the cable in it says no ethernet cable detected.  The DNS setting is AUTOMATIC.  I tried manual using 8.8.8.8 but no luck.  I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Samsung and got no where.

Any help would be most welcome.

Unplug your tv for 2 minutes and then turn it on, next go to the Home screen menu and then support and run the device care feature, and see if it detects a problem with the Lan port, also please try and use a different cable

Make sure that you are using a Cat 6E cable and above

Thanks for the reply.  I can’t see anyi.d. on the cable but suspect it is cat 5.

On my support screen the options are 

Picture test

Sound test

Signal info (greyed out)

Smart hub

Reset smart hub

Reset

I ran the smart hub connection test and everything was ok.
