Volume/Sound very low when playing BluRay and DVD-Could this be due to the HDMI-eARC ?

My Samsung 50" TU7000 has one HDMI port that my ROKU Stick+ is using, and one HDMI eARC port that the BluRay/DVD player is using (the ROKU killed the audio when plugged into the HDMI eARC). When I watch a DVD/BluRay the sound is VERY low. I need to turn up the volume from 30 to about 60. It was never like this with my previous TV that had 4 HDMI ports.

Is this the fault of using the HDMI eARC port? If so, what can I do about it?

Thanks very much, have a great day 🙂

It's possible that using the HDMI eARC port for your BluRay/DVD player is causing the low audio volume issue. eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) is a newer technology that allows for higher quality audio to be transmitted over HDMI, but it can also cause compatibility issues with some devices.

To troubleshoot the issue, you could try connecting the BluRay/DVD player to the HDMI port that the ROKU Stick+ is currently using and see if the audio volume improves. If it does, then it's likely an issue with the eARC port.

If you want to continue using the eARC port, you could try adjusting the audio settings on your BluRay/DVD player to see if that improves the volume. You could also try updating the firmware on both the TV and the BluRay/DVD player to ensure they're running the latest software.

If none of these solutions work, you may want to consider purchasing an HDMI switch or an audio receiver that can handle multiple HDMI inputs and outputs, and can also amplify the audio signal to improve the volume.
