Same thing happened to me and I just got this thing on TUESDAY. BD-J5700/ZA, Factory ID “I”. SN 0A531RBJ409370F. Sealed in box brand new from all sales final retailer. Is this some kind of joke? My other Samsung blu ray hasn’t given me a single problem EVER. please assist.

Pretty sure it’s the software update. I pulled the plug and let it sit a few hours and then it turned back on. Prompted me for the update and I said no, and now it works fine. Sure I have to say no to the update each time I turn it on, but it’s better than dealing with crashes.
Ironically, my other Samsung blu ray player has never asked me to do an update in the 3 years I’ve had it.
