Samsung UBD-M8500 light was flashing non stop and remote was not working. Either it was flashing very fast Green/Red or Green or Red depending on whether console power button was pushed or not. I looked and found people were putting tape on remote or returning player or removing all other remotes from the room or turning off the unit overnight. I tried to reset the remote too, no effect. None of the troubleshooting I tried seemed to work, short of returning it.
Finally, I checked all the buttons; I found the stop button had become stuck under the cover. I played around a little bit with the button releasing it back to the "up" position and the remote started to work and all was well, no more blinking light either.
