Sound bar source continue to switch back to cable box hdmi

I have an Apple TV and an Xfinity cable box in both hdmi ports of my Samsung atmos soundbar.  When I try to switch the source over to the Apple TV it automatically switches back to the cable box source.  It doesn't matter if the cable box is in hdmi 1 or 2 it will always switch back to the cable box hdmi, making it impossible to watch the Apple TV while the cable box is plugged in.  How do I fix this?

Have you tried plugging the devices into the television and using ARC to the sound bar?

Yes thank you, this totally worked.  Do all the different sound effects still work while using ARC (e.g., Dolby Atmos, movie, music, etc.,)?
