DonChalant, I have the same problem, I posted this today... For the last 3 weeks I have not been a happy girl! I have a killer home theatre system! I love renting and watching movies! That is... until 3 weeks ago... I thought I had a "rockin" high end Blu-ray player, a Samsung UBD-M9500. I, as well as others, on your "Samsung Community Forum" are being given the run around. By the way... getting the runaround makes MrsLee VERY angry! Imagine renting a new release Blu-ray a few blocks from your house, that just came out that day, and not being able to watch it on your home theatre. New release Blu-ray's of movies I have personally tried that will not play are; The Kitchen (2 different copies), Crawl, 47 Meters Down, and Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark. The same titles, as well as other titles, are listed on your site by other people that they will NOT play in your Blu-ray players! I put these new release Blu-ray's into the player. The message on the TV screen is... "Cannot play this disc. The disc does not meet the specifications.", then the disc door opens. Again, other people have reported to you that they have the same problem with the same titles and other new release titles as well. What do you know, I stick the new release Blu-ray's into my old Sony Blu-ray player... and they work. I have wasted several hours of my life now chatting and talking on the phone with your "technical specialists" and their "supervisors". I have done all of your troubleshooting and have your most current software update... 1111.4, which is CLEARLY OUT OF DATE! I have even been told the Blu-ray's must be from another region (I do believe this is a region free player) and that I need a technician to repair my UBD-M9500. However, it does not need repaired, it works fine if I want to watch a Blu-ray released more than a month ago! The new release Blu-ray's that won't play are perfect (no smudges or scratches) and for the US, where I live. Also, I have read to them these other comments from this forum on your Samsung website. They say, "we can't control what is written on 3rd party websites and that no problem has been reported". Hello people... I just told you I AM on YOUR website forum... obviously there is a problem and to PLEASE REPORT THIS PROBLEM and please get me to a programming engineer! OMG... is it happy hour yet? Samsung, thank you for helping me screw up my home theatre and display set-up, logging me off of my internet and accounts set up to my Blu-ray player. Great, again thank you, where is my password sheet! Samsung please have a programming engineer contact me and get YOUR software updated immediately! I have sent an email to "the office of the your CEO" explaining the above... only to get a reply that a "technical specialist" will contact me. Really, please, not them again... they DO NOT help! I cannot get to a software engineer to report this problem for Samsung to fix this issue. I am very frustrated and upset with this issue, which is again, clearly on Samsung's end. I am about ready to never purchase any Samsung product again... unless I need a large "paperweight"! Samsung I look forward to speaking with a programming engineer. Please have a programming engineer contact me promptly!
We have the UBD-M9500 and it won't play any new blu-ray discs I put in it. I have unplugged it and plugged it back in, restarted it more than once. Also bought a thumbdrive and downloaded the firmware from their site and tried to update it and it says there are no new updates. Chatted with a samsung person yesterday and he told me to do everything we already did. In the end they said to get a tech out. The new movies I tried to play, between redbox and movies I bought are Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, 47 Meters Down Uncaged and Crawl. It is so frustrating! Spent a lot of money on this player and now I can't play blu Ray's! Now they want me to spend money on a tech to come and look at it. It was an expensive machine and it's not old. I've had dvd players last for years and not have problems playing discs or have to try to update anything for it. Samsung needs to get updated firmware or something.

Based on this thread, the list of unplayable recent blu-rays is up to (at least) sixteen, all released since September 16th. I've tried posting a list with release dates, but the post keeps disappearing. Let's keep this thread going until the issue is corrected by Samsung.

We appreciate your quick response. This issue is already raised to our Product Specialist for investigation. We will wait for further updates regarding the issue.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.
We shall see. In the meantime, another two Blu-rays to add to the non-playing list in the UK
I also note the Samsung Moderators on here have become VERY quiet. Hhhhmmmm.
I should also add that homemade DVD photo slideshows I've been making on my PC for years and playing without problems on any DVD player, are suddenly pausing on the Samsung one but not on others. Admittedly it only freezes for 4/5 seconds and then plays ok, but this again has cropped up in the last couple of months. Might be coincidence, might not.
Hello UK! You read my mind... maybe the "mute" button was pushed on the Samsung Moderators. Ha! My guess... about your slideshow DVD's... it's probably not a coincidence. Cheers, Christina in Idaho.
