Home TheaterMICOM (Firmware) ver. 0151 - All OS (MULTI LANGUAGE,0.02 MB)
MICOM (Firmware) ver. 1003.4 - All OS (MULTI LANGUAGE,0.07 MB)
MICOM (Firmware) ver. 1003.0 - All OS (MULTI LANGUAGE,1.57 MB)
The 1003 is a .rom file and the other two are .ssp files. No notes on what was changed. Im guessing based on the # 1003.4 is the newest but why would that be so much smaller then 1003.0

Home TheaterSo sorry for the delay Howie! Here's a little break down for the firmware that is available:
- The download labeled MICOM (Firmware) ver. 0151 is for the Wireless Module
- The download labeled MICOM (Firmware) ver. 1003.4 is for the Micom
- The download labeled MICOM (Firmware) ver. 1003.0 is the DSP software
- The download labeled MICOM (Firmware) ver. 1.0 are the upgrade instructions in pdf format.
As you see, all 4 files are different, but have similar looking names. Very confusing I can admit. Please note that when updating the K550, ALL 3 downloads (items 1 -3 above) should be done, but they should be performed SEPARATELY. In other words, you should never put more than one of the 3 files on the USB when upgrading. The order for upgrading is not important so any order is A-okay. Hope this clears it up a bit. 🙂

Home TheaterHey there, good questions. To be honest, I am not sure. I know we have been doing a lot of updates to the website. I am sending this over to the specialists to see if they can clarify for us. Once they get back to me I will let you know the correct version needed.

Home Theater@Samsung_Stephanie: Please try to tell the engineers not to name the firmware files with periods in them. I just tried to update my firware and was unable to until I found this user thread: https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/usb-firmware-upgrade-failed-for-soundbar/.
When the files are extracted, they have periods in their names, which makes the sound bar unable to read them. Meaning that literally no one actually tested the files before posting them to the website.

Home TheaterMy soundbar was manufactured in 2016.09 and I don't want to go through update process, if soundbar is already up to date. Is there way to check the current version of the firmware ?

Home TheaterSadly there is not a method to see which firmware the unit is currently running. You can only know you're up to date by attempting to download the firmware by USB from the website. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Home Theaterwebsite guide says to 1) power off the soundbar, then 2) hold down the sound control button for several seconds until the version numbers appear in the display. Worked for me.
FWIW, my soundbar was manufactured in 10/2016 and was delivered to me up to date with latest firmware.

Home TheaterNote that for the HW-M550, you can check the current firmware by first turning off the soundabr, and then holding down the Settings/Sound Options button for 6 seconds. The firmware versions then scroll across the soundbar screen.
