Kitchen and Family HubMy Refrigerator is about 3 years old. The Model is : RF29BB8600APAA
It is a 4 door French Door Refrigerator with a bottom freezer and dual ice maker in the freezer. The Ice makers make Ice cubes and Ice Bites. It's been working great up until recently. I have replaced the water filter and reset the ice makers by pressing the test button. Initially when I pressed the test buttons the ice makers dispensed the ice that was left in them and then I could hear them refill with more water. I tested them again several hours later. Ice dispensed when I pressed the test button but did not dispense automatically. This has not resolved over the course of several days.
In short. It seems that the ice maker fills with water, freezes and then fails to automatically dispense but will dispense when the test buttons are pushed. The ice trays are not full. I'm am technically inclined and am happy to open the freezer up to have a look but would like some guidance.
Update: I've placed a probe thermometor in the refrigerator and the freezer. It seems like the freezer in particular is having trouble reaching temp. I've noticed a lot of the food in the freezer has begun to feel less than frozen. Power Freeze is "On" but it has been on for more than a day and I don't think the freezer has reached temp for it to kick off. The unit cools but not well enough. It's struggling. I will also say we had a power event shortly before this started occurring. Wondering if something might be on the fritz.
I cleared the evaporator coils of any dust/hair with a vacuum. It was a little caked up but not terrible. The unit does not seem iced up. At least not from what I can see. I do hear the compressor kick on but it is very quiet. Again, the unit cools down to a pretty low temp but it's just not getting where it needs to.

Kitchen and Family HubAh, not without a lot of trouble. This model makes it exceptionally difficult to even reach the test buttons. To really get into the freezer to reach the top of the ice maker I would need to remove all of the freezer drawers and the drawer door as well.

Kitchen and Family HubI basically had the same problem but all I had to do was change the filter. Now my problem is the filter is REALLY Stuck in it's holder and it still won't produce ice.

Kitchen and Family HubI'm having the same problem. Has anyone identified a fix for the issue? My fridge is performing in the exact same manner - not totally frozen, icemaker won't dispense ice after making it.

Kitchen and Family HubUpdate: TLDR: After several visits from a local reputable and licensed appliance repair company and hundreds of dollars in parts/labor my refrigerator was deemed to have a leaking evaporator coil and that it was unserviceable. I was advised to buy a replacement refrigerator, preferably a Whirlpool/Kitchenaid/Maytag brand.
Not TLDR:
We really liked the fridge so my wife wanted to try to get it repaired. hired a local highly rated appliance repair company. They came in and ran the self diagnostics and tests. No errors, but the cooling continued to slowly slowly decline over the course of a week or two. They concluded that I had a slow refrigerant leak in my evaporator coil since there were no errors, the compressor was running, and overall operating normally.
They charged me to order the part and for labor to replace it. Total quoted cost was $1200. Half paid up front for the part and then the rest paid after the repair was done. They ended up rescheduling me 2 or 3 different times. The first time the tech was unavailable, the 2nd time he took it apart and didn't realize that to do his weld required an aluminum to aluminum braising rod. The 3rd time they finally showed up and tried to weld the new evaporator coil onto the refrigerator but ultimately ended up telling me that they could not complete the repair. It was basically unserviceable due to where the connections were. Supposedly the technician completing the weld had the most experience doing these types of repairs out of anyone with their company. He said he was 99% certain it could not be completed. They ultimately left and advised me to buy a Whirlpool/Kitchenaid/Maytag brand refrigerator....
Hope this finds and helps someone else in the future.

Kitchen and Family HubSeems like a pretty significant issue for a relatively new (and not inexpensive) refrigerator - but no kidding, mine is doing the identical thing yours was. Crazy.
