JUMP TO SOLUTION

Give the following a try:

Make sure that the Child/Control/Dispenser Lock is not activated.

  • If it is activated hold down "Water" for 5 seconds.

Once you have verified that the panel is unlocked "Crushed Ice" down for 5 seconds and the light should turn off.

Below are a few steps to get your ice dispenser back up and running:

Remove the bucket and make sure the ice is in separate cubes in the bucket.

  • If the ice has fused together, it will have to be broken into pieces in order to dispense. This is normal and not an issue with the refrigerator, and can be prevented by harvesting ice more frequently. The refrigerator has an automatic defrost, and if ice remains in the ice bucket long enough, it will slightly melt and refreeze during this process and fuse together.
  • If your ice maker is making small or shattered ice, see our guide for additional troubleshooting.

Empty the ice bucket.

  • The ice will be used again in a later step, so do not dispose of it. (you can place the ice into a container or a bowl)

Inspect the ice bucket exit.

  • When removed from the refrigerator, the ice bucket should be in the closed or crushed ice position. If there is ice buildup, it will need to be removed. The fastest way to remove the ice is to run warm water through the chute.
  • Important: Completely dry the ice bucket after running water through it. Any moisture remaining will freeze over when the ice bucket is reinstalled and may recreate the issue.Open/Closed Cubed/Crushed position

Run some hot water through the bucket

  • Be sure to run water through the inside and outside of the bucket.
  • This clear way all build up ice residue

Wipe the bucket off

  • Make sure that the whole bucket is completely dry before putting it back in the unit.
  • This step is very important because you don't want the bucket to crack when you put it back in the unit it's not dry.

Check the actuator rod.

  • The actuator rod is the steel rod that runs along the bottom of the ice bucket. Move the actuator rod and look at the discharge chute. Moving the curved end of the actuator rod will cause the flap to open and close.
  • Note: If the flap does not open and close when the actuator rod is moved or turned, the ice bucket will need to be replaced. For service options, check out the Support Center.

Replace the ice and reinstall the ice bucket.

  • Return the ice that was removed from the ice bucket and reinstall the ice bucket, making sure the ice bucket is fully installed, latched, and clicks into place. If the ice bucket is not fully installed and latched, the ice function will not operate properly.

Dispense ice.

  • Select crushed ice and dispense into a glass. Check to see that crushed ice is being dispensed properly.

Note: The troubleshooting above is based on the model code provided in the original post: RF265BEAESR.

If the above troubleshooting steps didn't help, here are some service options:

- If your unit was recently purchased, you can check with your retailer on their return/exchange processes.

- If you have an extended warranty you can reach out to them to have service processed.

- If you're within the one year warranty, you can Private message one of our moderators to have service processed. http://bit.ly/33ipYnO

- If you're OUT of warranty, use the following link to locate a service center in your area:

Hi @userZLKwE0Fhha,

Can you try the below first so we can start to troubleshoot what's going on.

To turn on the dispenser's LED lamp, press and hold the Cubed Ice button for 3 seconds. The DispenserLED lamp (under the display) will stay on until it is turned off. To turn off the dispenser LED Lamp, press and hold the Cubed Ice button for 3 seconds again.

Hello,

did you find a solution to this problem?! I have exactly the same issue: water light is on, cubed ice light on. No water, only cubed ice, and it seems the panel is frozen. Just when I push and hold water light switch, the light goes off, when i release it, it goes back on, but still no water. Any help will be appreciated. @user8KzKgN88Ed @useruudhcqRVCJ @SamsungBri @userZLKwE0Fhha

I have the same problem as well.  We are stuck on 'ice' with both the water and ice buttons showing active.  Can't switch to a single button and holding them down, turning off, etc. all do not change anything.

Yeah.  No luck with any of those suggestions.  Here is what the front of the fridge water/ice panel looks like.  It only dispenses ice and can not be switched to water or crushed ice.    Screenshot 2020-07-12 at 5.09.02 PM.png
