Kitchen and Family HubOur fridge started making a loud fan buzz. It sounds like it's coming from the upper rear center on the inside of the fridge. It only does it when the doors are closed and you can hear it winding down when you open the door. When you close the doors, it winds up to full speed again. We've had this fridge since March 2015. Any ideas?

Kitchen and Family HubThis is no solution. We had the same problem. It started about 3 years after we bought the refigerator. We have had service done and their fix didn't work. In fact, at the service call, we were told their fix might not work. However, we still had to pay. We contacted the Samsung moderator, but all he or she said was the refigerator needs service. Obviously, from all the comments in this thead, the refigerators were not made well.

Our fridge about 6 weeks ago started making this noise of the fan clipping the ice, and tons of people apparently experience the same problem. I'm nervous to have service done as the problem seems inconsistent into actual cause. Boggles my mind all these issues and Samsung doesn't own up to it. Any help? Should I just get a new fridge (from someone else?)?

Kitchen and Family HubWe also have had the fan noise issue since shortly after the unit was installed. We had the Ice maker service performed and that slowed down the ice maker freeze up issue but did not resolve it. The fan noise was present from near the start of the purchase. I searched the web and found many people complained about how loud these units are so we thought that is the way they are. After the ice maker service the unit was very quiet. Over the next month the unit fan noise became increasingly loud again. We searched and found the Forced Defrost mode and have been using that ever since. Over the years, we have to run the Forced Defrost mode three to four times in a row to get the fan noise to stop, but it only takes a few weeks for the fan noise to return. Finally, we learned to watch for signs of ice build up by looking at the air circulation vents in the refrigerator rear cooling panel. When ice appears in those holes or on the outside of the panel, we run the Forced Defrost several times. I tried slowly increasing the temp of the fridge from the recommended 38 to 40 and then 42 and nothing solves the issue long term. Sony taught me never to trust their products and Samsung has done the same. No further purchases from me or my family.

Kitchen and Family HubI too had the same issue.
Freezer was fine
Ice maker was fine (though excessive buildup when I took tray out - I clean that out 2x per year)
Model RF23HTEDBSR
Purchased Oct 2015
Actions:
Took all the shelves and draws out
Youtubed how to remove the shelf the drawers slide under. (was a bit difficult)
Removed the panel and VERY carefully took off
To find:
- Ice chunk blocking the fan from rotating
- Copper pipes froze over.
- Drain froze over.
I proceeded to use a blow dryer to melt all the ice
Plug back in... temp is slowing decreasing in fridge and sounds like fan is running again.
Probelem (seems) to be solved without all the tech hassle... thanks to all these posts + youtube
