I purchased a Samsung refrigerator in September and now in November the water pitcher leaked between the lid and pitcher (this started within a month of getting the fridge). We haven’t washed it in the dishwasher. Is there a warranty on this item? C1EDF403-3D50-4711-8890-908201713D8E.jpegE154F5C2-9DFC-4573-843F-43945CF441E3.jpegCAFA1D6D-482D-47DA-AD5E-ECD32F876AF7.jpeg

I definitely understand how this can be frustrating with your water pitcher leaking, have you tried the troubleshooting steps below?

If your model doesn't have a rubber drain cap, then skip to step 3.

Your Auto Fill Pitcher is not dishwasher safe. Washing it in the dishwasher can warp the pitcher and cause leakage. Always hand wash the pitcher with light soap and water.

  1. Prepare to drain the Autofill compartment.

Remove the pitcher, and dry it off with a towel. You'll also need a towel or container to collect any water that drains out of the system on the next step.

  2. Remove the rubber drain cap under the Autofill compartment, and drain all the water.

Even if you don't see any water in the compartment, if there's any water in the drainage area, it will need to be drained dry in order for the Autofill function to resume.

  3. Inspect the pitcher and lid for cracks or other damage.

If any of the pieces are damaged, they will need to be replaced. Visit samsungparts.com for replacements.

  4. Dry all the pieces and reassemble them.

Make sure the pitcher's lid is assembled correctly. If the pitcher and its lid are not aligned correctly, water may leak. Also, the Autofill function will not fill the pitcher if moisture is detected, so make sure everything is dry. The pour spout should face away from the handle, and the two-part lid should be assembled so the pieces match up and fit securely together.

  5. Make sure the button behind the pitcher is not stuck.

There is a spring loaded button behind where the pitcher goes. Press on the button and make sure it is not sticking. This button must have full contact with the pitcher when it is installed for the Auto Fill feature to function.

The Samsung solution to this problem does not work.  There are other threads on this subject with a lot of frustrated customers.  I'm adding my name to that list.  The seal for the pitcher is faulty.  Samsung needs to redesign it, and provide customers with a new one.  Such a disappointment.  We picked this fridge specifically for the auto fill pitcher and LOVED it until the leaks started.  Now we just kind of put up with it and pour water over the sink.
