Microwave MC17J8000CG — c-D0 error

Was boiling water the other day and then the microwave stopped working. It is showing error code: c-D0.  I believe I need a new control board which is part number DE92-03928A.  I've tried unplugging it and have left unplugged overnight.  It's been like this for a few days.  When it's plugged back in, it flashes 12:00 like the time needs to be set for a little bit.  Then the code pops up and the microwave is useless.

Before I go and spend ~$100 on a new control board, can anyone tell me what exactly breaks/fries on the circuit board when this error message pops up?  Wondering if it's repairable with a soldering iron?
