COME ON SAMSUNG! So MANY customers have complained the Ice maker continues to freeze up. I've to to thaw the freezer with a hair dryer and then chip away the ice. Works for about three days and then we're right back to the same problem. Sometimes we can't even pull out the tray because it is so frozen over. Most of the time we don't even bother trying to use the ice maker because if we're lucky we get five pieces of ice and then look to see it clogged up again.

So, I finally got this resolved!
I called Samsung support and explained the situation noting that I am having the same issue as thousands of customers are having. My fridge is out of warranty and I have never had it serviced by anyone. The rep told me that they would give me a one-time out-of-warranty service call at no charge. Any future calls would be the standard fee.
I made the appointment and the service group came out. It was a third-party "Samsung Care" specialists group who was contracted out full time to handle all Samsung products. They are very polite and efficient. I explained the problem and the first thing he did was test the ice dispenser flap door by pouring a cup of water into it from inside the fridge. The water immediately leaked out of the ice dispenser in the front. He said that warm room air is leaking past the flap and into the ice box and that's "one of the problems." Then he pulled out the ice bucket and saw that there was a open space between the ice box and the fridge and that "warmer than freezing" air from the fridge is also coming up into that ice box and that's a "second problem." Then he saw that the model of ice maker is older than the current model and that's the "third problem." So they replaced the entire contents of the icemaker box, the dispenser flap and sealed that crack between the box and fridge. All is working now. Happy Customer.
I'm having the same problem. Just started this week after almost a year since we purchased. Sounds like I should call soon and hope it's still in warranty! Thanks for the posts!
We bought the same item. The repair people have been here 6 times. They replaced the ice maker twice finally the last time they were here which was January 8,2018 the man replaced the entire computer board. (I was leaving for Florida the next day. ) it made ice that night and only that night apparently. I came home March 22 and the ice maker was not working again. I had purchased the extended warranty so I called Lowes. Explained that it still was not working and that I had been gone for 2 months.
Sorry the warranty is expired and if the repair people come again you'll have a free of $150.00 plus parts. I agree Samsung should do a really and replace the refrigerator 's. The ice maker in the freezer works just fine. It's the top one that's the problem
I am sorry for all the problems with the icemaker in the French Door model - but so happy I am NOT ALONE! I thought there must be something we are doing wrong. We kept scraping off the ice, defrosting it, only to have it stop working again and again! There is obviously a design flaw in this model!!
I am having the same issue, and glad I found this forum. My ice maker stopped working after one year. Called Samsung then,...nothing. Talked to a repair guy and refused to pay hundreds of dollars to "fix" something I paid over a pretty penny for...
I have the same refrigerator and mine stopped working within a month of purchase. They replaced it once, it's out of warranty now and doesn't work. I would never recommend this brand to anyone. It was a lot of money and the customer service is poor.
